The KMA Logan Desert Transcend Drive is a limited-edition version of the Logan Transcend Drive, an overdrive pedal from KMA Audio Machines. The Desert edition appeared in May 2020 in an ultra-limited Desert White colorway with matching anodized red knobs, limited to 100 handmade units12. Guitar World reported a price of £165, or approximately $200, while MusicRadar reported £17512.
A touch-responsive overdrive
The Logan design is built around touch response. MusicRadar's Rob Laing framed it simply: "There's always room for a touch-sensitive overdrive in your collection"2. gearnews.com described the design as a "super touch-responsive" overdrive pedal3, and Guitar World called it "the versatile [overdrive pedal]"1. KMA spent over a year designing the Logan and honing its flexibility for players, while retaining the character of your guitar, according to MusicRadar2.
The pedal's flexibility comes from a set of controls that go beyond a typical overdrive21:
- A pre- or post-gain position switch, reported by both MusicRadar and Guitar World21
- A three-band active EQ with adjustable mids frequency and a dedicated mids footswitch1
- A standard expression input1
The expression input is worth noting for players who use one: MusicRadar described it as widening "the Lodan Desert's potential"2, and it pairs the pedal with standard expression pedals. For where the Logan sits among drive pedals, see the site's pages on overdrive pedals, distortion pedals and preamp pedals.
From the Logan to the Desert White edition
The basis for the Logan Desert Transcend Drive is the Logan drive pedal3. The Desert edition is that same overdrive presented in a Desert White colorway with artwork2, described by Guitar World as "an ultra-limited Desert White colorway with matching anodized red knobs"1. MusicRadar reported the pedal as available that week when announced, with the note that it was a limited run2.
The Desert White edition was limited to 100 handmade units when announced in May 20202. A player looking for one today is looking at a small production run rather than a standard catalog pedal; the standard Logan remained in KMA's range.

Questions
How many Logan Desert Transcend Drive pedals were made?
Only 100 handmade Logan Desert overdrive pedals were made. MusicRadar reported the run as an ultra limited-edition colourway when KMA Audio Machines announced it in May 2020, so the Desert White version is a small run on top of the standard Logan Transcend Drive.
What does the pre/post gain switch do on the KMA Logan?
The Logan has a pre- or post-gain position switch, reported by both MusicRadar and Guitar World. It changes where the gain stage sits in the pedal's signal path, which is part of the flexibility KMA built into the Logan design.
Does the KMA Logan Desert Transcend Drive have an expression input?
Yes. Guitar World describes a standard expression input, and MusicRadar notes the expression input widens the Logan Desert's potential. It lets a player connect an expression pedal for hands-free control.
Is the Logan Desert Transcend Drive different from the standard Logan?
The basis for the Logan Desert Transcend Drive is the Logan drive pedal. The Desert edition is the same overdrive design presented in an ultra-limited Desert White colorway with matching anodized red knobs, limited to 100 handmade units.
How much does the KMA Logan Desert Transcend Drive cost?
Guitar World reported a price of £165, or approximately $200, while MusicRadar reported £175. Both figures date from the pedal's announcement in May 2020.
