The Line 6 Verbzilla is a reverb pedal from the ToneCore line, built around 11 reverb algorithms selected with a rotary switch. It has stereo inputs and outputs, and among its settings is a ducking mode where the reverb mixes itself down while you play and swells back when the guitar stops. Line 6 states that the Verbzilla is no longer made, so it now turns up on the used market rather than in stores.1

What it does

MusicRadar's review described the Verbzilla as something of a "blank canvas", saying that rather than being obviously guitar-specific, it suits a range of applications. The stereo inputs and outputs, the same review notes, make it suitable both for keyboard and for outboard recording duties, which is unusual for a pedal in this slot and points at studio and keyboard use as well as pedalboard duty.1

The 11 algorithms are chosen with a rotary switch on the top panel, in typical Line 6 style with plenty to choose from, according to MusicRadar.1

The ducking mode

The setting that sets the Verbzilla apart for many players is ducking. JHS Pedals explains it this way3:

"ducking means that when I play, the reverb will mix itself down and stand out as much in the mix."
JHS Pedals3

In practice, the reverb sits back while you are playing and swells up when the guitar stops sending input, so it fills the gaps between phrases instead of piling up under them. JHS Pedals called the pedal "awesome" and "fantastic" with "truly amazing features in the ducking setting".3

Where it came from

Angelo Mazzacco worked for Line 6 and created the Verbzilla in the early 2000s. JHS Pedals points out the design is "technically from the mind of Meris Pedals, but it's pre-Meris", because Mazzacco later founded Meris.3

The Verbzilla is discontinued. Line 6 keeps it on its legacy products page and still hosts the ToneCore Verbzilla manual as a PDF download for owners.2

Questions

Is the Line 6 Verbzilla still made?

No. Line 6 lists the Verbzilla among its legacy products and states plainly that it is no longer made. It was part of the ToneCore pedal line, and Line 6 keeps the product page and the ToneCore Verbzilla manual available as PDF downloads for owners who still use the pedal.

How many reverb algorithms does the Verbzilla have?

The Verbzilla carries 11 reverb algorithms, chosen with a rotary switch on the top panel. MusicRadar's review noted that, in typical Line 6 style, there is plenty to choose from, covering a wide range of reverb types rather than a single voicing.

Who designed the Line 6 Verbzilla?

Angelo Mazzacco, who worked for Line 6 at the time, created the Verbzilla in the early 2000s. JHS Pedals notes the design is technically from the mind of Meris Pedals, but pre-Meris, since Mazzacco later went on to found Meris.

What is ducking reverb on the Verbzilla?

Ducking is one of the Verbzilla's settings. As JHS Pedals describes it, when you play, the reverb mixes itself down and stands out as much in the mix, then swells back up when the guitar stops sending input. It keeps the effect out of the way while you are playing and fills space when you are not.

Is the Line 6 Verbzilla stereo?

Yes. The Verbzilla has stereo inputs and outputs, which MusicRadar's review says make it suitable both for keyboard and for outboard recording duties, not only for use on a guitar pedalboard.

Where can I find the Verbzilla manual?

Line 6 hosts the ToneCore Verbzilla manual as a PDF on the product's legacy page on its website, so owners of the discontinued pedal can still download the official documentation.
