The Mr D ODS is an analog overdrive pedal from Maza FX, an Argentine pedal maker. according to RockBoard's PedalPedia's product information, it emulates "the mythical and exquisite sound of the Dumble overdrive special amplifier," with what RockBoard's PedalPedia calls "a mordant rock sound ideal for crunch"1. In plain terms, it is designed to put the character of that amplifier's overdrive channel on a pedalboard, covering the crunch-to-rock range rather than clean boost or full-on distortion.
Circuit and switching
The pedal runs an analog circuit, so the signal path is not converted to digital at any point1. It includes what RockBoard's PedalPedia describes as a "soft switch relay system v2 mod Flexi," a relay-based switching arrangement rather than a conventional footswitch1. Relay switching is generally used to keep the audio path out of the switch itself, which players often look for when a pedal sits in a loop or a larger board setup.
Power
The Mr D ODS runs on a standard 9V DC, center negative supply and draws 5 mA1. That current draw is low enough that it sits comfortably alongside other pedals on a shared supply.
The maker's product information lists the pedal's width as 000.00 mm, a placeholder value, so no reliable dimension is available for it1.
Where it sits on a board
As an overdrive, the Mr D ODS belongs to the same family as the pedals covered in Overdrive Pedals. Players comparing it against other gain stages may also find the Boss SD-1 vs Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer comparison useful for seeing how classic overdrive circuits differ. Maza FX's own range includes other gain pedals such as the First Line Fuzz and the First Line Screamer.
The maker publishes a manual for the pedal in Spanish at mazafx.com.ar1.
