The Menatone JAC Compressor Mini is a compressor pedal from Menatone, the compact version of the company's JAC design. Menatone describes its circuit as "Discrete Optical Compression", meaning the gain reduction is carried out by an optical element rather than a voltage-controlled amplifier, an approach many players associate with a smooth, transparent response to picking dynamics1. If you are new to the effect itself, see the site's page on compressor pedals for how compression works in a signal chain.
