The Menatone JAC Mini is a handmade compressor pedal built around optical compression, the approach where a light-sensitive element controls the gain reduction. Menatone describes it as "a unique take on classic optical compression," and the maker presents it as a new version for 2025, the JAC Compressor Mini12. It sits in the compressor pedal family, alongside the earlier JAC Compressor Mini it succeeds.
What it does
Menatone describes the JAC Mini as having a quick attack and long release, which the maker says gives it predictability and makes it versatile enough to act as both a limiter and a sustainer. In a limiter role it holds down peaks; as a sustainer it lifts quiet notes so they last longer. The maker characterizes the sound as transparent and organic1.
The circuit uses a completely discrete FET topology, meaning it is built from individual transistors rather than integrated chips. Menatone says this allows for beautiful overdriving and flawless performance even after heavy use, which points to the pedal taking drive from an overdrive pedal or pushing into one without misbehaving1.
Availability and price
The JAC Mini is built by hand by Menatone, whose product pages carry the tagline "THE FINEST HANDMADE"1. The maker lists an approximate build time of 2 to 5 weeks, so the pedal is made to order rather than shipped from stock1. The list price is $169 as of 2026-10-251.
Because the JAC Mini is handmade to order, expect a build time of approximately 2 to 5 weeks before it ships1.

Questions
What kind of compressor is the Menatone JAC Mini?
It is a compressor pedal built around classic optical compression, which Menatone describes as a unique take on that approach. The circuit uses a completely discrete FET topology, and with its quick attack and long release the pedal is versatile enough to act as both a limiter and a sustainer, while staying transparent and organic in character.
How long does it take to get a JAC Mini?
Menatone builds the JAC Mini by hand, and the maker lists an approximate build time of 2 to 5 weeks. That means the pedal is made to order rather than pulled from stock, so players should expect a wait between ordering and shipping.
