The Mooer 012 Fried Mien is a mini preamp pedal, one of three preamps in the series announced together. MusicRadar reported that the 012 Fried Mien is based on Friedman's hot-rodded take on classic Marshall circuits, putting that amp voicing in a pedal.1
What it does
Like the other pedals in the Micro Preamp line, the 012 Fried Mien packs the features of the amp it models into a mini enclosure. MusicRadar's report on the announcement describes dual channels with independent gain, volume and EQ parameters, a built-in optional cab simulator, and on/off or channel A/B footswitching, so the pedal can work as a straightforward preamp or be switched between its two voices.1
Guitar Interactive Magazine, covering the same trio of releases, called the Fried Mien "Probably the most requested amp so far" in the series, and described its sound as "A modern hot-rodded take on a classic British amp by one of the finest amp engineers of our time."2
Where it sits in Mooer's preamp range
At the time of the January 2018 announcement, MusicRadar listed the pedal's status as "available soon", with a reported price of $99 in the US and £95 in the UK.1
