Morley MTG3 20/20 Wah Lock

The Morley MTG3 20/20 Wah Lock is a wah pedal in Morley's 20/20 line, announced alongside the 20/20 Wah Boost and 20/20 Lead Wah as part of a batch of three new wah models added to the range¹. Like the other 20/20 pedals, it carries the 20/20 Buffer, which Morley says helps maintain the integrity of your signal¹.

What it does

The pedal's headline feature is its modes. The wah-lock mode emulates a fixed position of the wah pedal when engaged, so instead of rocking the treadle through the sweep you can hold the filter where you set it. The third mode, called Whoa, shifts the envelope and produces a deep, vocal-like wah sound¹.

Gearnews describes the two modes this way: the wah-lock mode emulates a fixed position of the wah pedal when engaged, while the third mode, called Whoa, shifts the envelope and produces a deep, vocal-like wah sound¹. For a player, that means the pedal can either hold a set tone like a wah parked mid-sweep, or respond to your picking with that filtered vocal character.

The 20/20 design

The Wah Lock uses the switchless design typical of the other Morley wah pedals, meaning the effect engages from the movement of the pedal rather than a stomp switch¹. Players who want to compare it within the same family can look at the 20/20 Classic Switchless Wah, the 20/20 Bad Horsie or the 20/20 Power Wah, and the broader field is covered on the Wah-Wah Pedals page.
