The Mythos Titan is a signature overdrive pedal made by the Nashville-based pedal company Mythos for the YouTube player Rob Chapman, announced in early 2018. It takes the company's Mjolnir Overdrive circuit as its starting point and revoices it for Chapman's playing, and it was sold for $2491.
What it does
Mythos described the Titan as the Mjolnir with three changes: increased gain, a thicker low-end, and a deeper voicing on the tone control1. In practice that puts it in the same family as the Mjolnir Overdrive, a transparent-style overdrive, but voiced hotter and fuller than the pedal it came from. Players who find the Mjolnir too open at the top end were the audience for the thicker low-end and deeper tone voicing1.
Controls
The Titan carries two switches that set its character:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Clipping switch | Changes between germanium, open and LED clipping1 |
| Fat boost switch | Adds a fat boost1 |
The clipping switch is the most significant of the two: germanium clipping, open (no clipping) and LED clipping each give the pedal a different compression and edge, so one pedal covers a range from softer to harder overdrive voices1.
Availability
The Titan was only available from Chapman Guitar dealers, not through Mythos's normal dealer network1.
A namesake to know about
Do not confuse the Mythos Titan with the Maestro Titan Boost, a separate boost pedal that Maestro announced in 2022 with a Hi Pass/Flat toggle switch2. The two share part of a name and nothing else. For more circuits in the same broad family, see the site's pages on Overdrive Pedals and Boost Pedals.
