The 1927 Home Run King Compressor is a compressor pedal from Ninevolt Pedals, a small company in Japan. Pedal of the Day described it as seeking "the same tones as high-end studio compressors," built around a simple control system that the reviewer found "both easy to use and extremely useful to your sound"1. The design later appeared as the Animals Pedal 1927 Home Run King Comp, sold by Animals Pedal in Japan2.
Power, current draw and impedances
The pedal runs on a 9V battery or a DC 9V supply with a center negative plug, the polarity used by standard pedalboard power supplies1. It draws 17.5mA, a figure confirmed on Animals Pedal's product page for the Home Run King Comp12. That is light enough for nearly any supply, and the battery option means it works without a PSU at all.
The input impedance is 500k ohm and the output impedance is 10k ohm, figures given both in the Pedal of the Day review and on Animals Pedal's page for the pedal12.
Controls and indicators
The pedal keeps its control layout simple. The Volume knob sets the overall output level of the pedal1.
It also carries two LED lights: one to indicate if the pedal is active or bypassed, and one to show when the compression is working hard1. That second LED gives a quick visual read of how much the pedal is squeezing the signal as you play.
What reviewers said
Pedal of the Day's 2016 review described the pedal as having "a very natural sound and a tone that won't step all over your original guitar's signal," and credited its simple control system with making it easy to use1. Animals Pedal's product page for the later version describes noise low enough that the company compares it with high class studio compressors2.

The Animals Pedal versions
The same design is sold as the Animals Pedal 1927 Home Run King Comp, with the same 17.5mA current draw, 500k ohm input impedance and 10k ohm output impedance2. Animals Pedal also offered a Charity Edition of the Home Run King Comp with the same electrical specifications3.
If you are weighing it against other dynamics tools, see the site's page on compressor pedals for how this type of effect works in a signal chain.

Questions
Does the Ninevolt 1927 Home Run King take a battery?
Yes. The pedal runs on a 9V battery or on a DC 9V adapter with a center negative plug, so it can sit on a board or be used without a power supply.
Is the Ninevolt 1927 Home Run King true bypass?
Yes. Pedal of the Day lists the pedal as true bypass, so when it is switched off your guitar's signal passes through without the compressor's circuitry in the way.
What does the second LED on the Home Run King show?
The pedal has two LED lights. One shows whether the pedal is active or bypassed, and the other shows when the compression is working hard, giving a visual read on how much the pedal is compressing.
What polarity does the Home Run King power jack use?
The DC power jack is center negative, the standard polarity used by most pedal power supplies, at 9V.
How much current does the Home Run King draw?
The pedal draws 17.5mA, a figure given both by Pedal of the Day and by Animals Pedal's product page for the later Home Run King Comp.
