The MTET from Old Blood Noise Endeavors is a MIDI to Expression Translator, a utility pedal that sits between a MIDI device and the expression inputs of other pedals. It receives CC messages and translates those messages into Expression outputs, with four individual expression outputs so a single MIDI source can drive expression functions on up to four pedals1.

For players running a MIDI controller, a MIDI-capable switcher or a multi-effects rig, the MTET turns MIDI program and CC data into the kind of continuous control normally handled by an expression pedal, without needing a foot to do the moving1.

What it does

The MTET works as a translator between two control languages. On one side is MIDI: the pedal has a MIDI In jack to communicate with the MTET, and it receives CC messages, the continuous controller messages that MIDI gear sends to change a value over time. On the other side is expression: the pedal translates those messages into Expression outputs, the same control signal an expression pedal sends to a pedal's expression jack1.

Because there are four individual expression outputs, one MTET can move expression-controlled parameters on four pedals at once. That means a single MIDI scene change can sweep a delay's time control, a reverb's mix, a filter's cutoff and a modulation depth together, all from the MIDI side of the rig1.

The MTET requires a 9V DC center negative 2.1mm jack power supply capable of 50mA, and the power supply is not included1.

Old Blood Noise Endeavors also makes other expression-side utility pedals, including the Expression Ramper, the Expression Ramper X3 and the Expression Slider. Where those are foot-operated or preset-based expression tools, the MTET is the MIDI entry point into that family, converting MIDI CC data into expression control1.

Questions

What does the MTET do?

The MTET is a MIDI to Expression Translator. It connects to a MIDI device through its MIDI In jack, receives CC messages, and translates those messages into expression outputs. It provides four individual expression outputs, so one MIDI source can control expression functions on up to four pedals at the same time.

How is the MTET powered?

The MTET requires a 9V DC center negative 2.1mm jack power supply capable of 50mA. The power supply is not included with the pedal.
