The MudWedge Fuzz is a fuzz pedal from Olsen Interface, a maker of experimental distortion and fuzz designs. Pedal of the Day describes it as capable of "deep and fuzzy tones, as well as very loud and intense distortion," placing it at the heavier, more aggressive end of the fuzz family1. The circuit is all-original rather than a clone of a classic fuzz design1.

It is closely related to the Olsen Interface Warspit Distortion: Pedal of the Day calls the MudWedge its older brother with a bunch of knobs and switches1.

Controls

The MudWedge features 2 Fuzz controls, a Noise control and an output Volume knob1. The two fuzz knobs, Fuzz 1 and Fuzz 2, set the fuzz tone1. The Noise control shapes how the fuzz tones sound deeper and bolder, coinciding with where the Fuzz 1 and Fuzz 2 knobs are set1.

Switches add further shaping. The Blue toggle controls what the lower left Momentary switch does, either muting your signal or boosting it to instant max volume1.

What reviewers said

Pedal of the Day's review, published 2 October 2021, found the pedal rewards experimentation1:

"creates new fuzz sounds you might not have dreamed up previously. With so many switches and dials to experiment with"
Pedal of the Day, 20211

The review's overall verdict was that many useful and amp-crushing sounds are findable with a little effort, and that the pedal works great with drop-tuned instruments1.
