The One Control Blue 360 AIAB is a bass preamp pedal in the Amp-in-a-Box (AIAB) style, built to reproduce the sound of the Acoustic 360 preamp. One Control describes it as the newest member of its growing collection of AIAB pedals, and designer Bjorn Juhl says the pedal "can instantly give your modern, high tech amp the response of 70's-era high-powered transistor amp."1

The original it draws on was a solid-state bass preamp paired with the 361 18" powered cabinet. Juhl's comments on the product page argue that "the Acoustic 360 may be one of the most-heard but least-acknowledged amps in music," and that the Blue 360 "reproduces the sound of the legendary 360 preamp."1 One Control positions the resulting tone as sitting well in loud, dense band mixes: "Blue 360 delivers a bass tone that fits in perfects with high-density, powerful band sounds - especially those with high" volume and distorted guitar, which Juhl points to for classic rock, punk and similar styles.1

One Control's product page lists the Blue 360 as sold out as of 26 October 2026.1

Controls

The pedal has three EQ knobs plus a master volume, and a side switch that sets the output range1.

ControlWhat it does
BASS-26 dB to +6 dB @ 32Hz1
MID-15 dB to +6 dB @ 600 Hz1
TREBLE-26 dB to +20 dB @ 3 kHz1
VOLAdjusts the overall volume. In -18 dB mode, unity gain is at the max setting.1
Side switch (0dB / -18dB)Turns -18 dB mode ON / OFF; works as a pre-set master volume.1

The 0dB / -18dB switch is worth understanding before you set up. One Control describes it as a pre-set master volume: at -18 dB, full Volume gives a level similar to bypass mode, so the pedal sits at unity gain with the knob maxed. At 0dB, output rises to 360mV clean or 600mV distorted, which is the setting to use when you want the pedal to push what comes after it.1

Using it as a preamp

Because the Blue 360 is a preamp design, One Control says it can be used as a preamp into a power amp, skipping a conventional bass amp head. Juhl adds one caveat: "If you do use the Blue 360 as preamp into a power amp, the sound will start to distort on transients at the full power o" the power amp.1 For players exploring the wider category, the pedal sits among preamp pedals and other bass pedals.

Questions

Does the One Control Blue 360 AIAB take a battery?

Yes. One Control lists power as a 9V battery or a standard DC power supply, so the pedal can run either way. Current consumption is low at 1.5mA @ 9V, which is gentle on a battery and well within what a standard supply or daisy chain can handle.

Is the One Control Blue 360 AIAB true bypass?

Yes. One Control specifies True-Bypass Switching, so when the pedal is off your bass signal passes through without the circuit loading it.

What does the -18 dB switch do on the Blue 360 AIAB?

The side switch marked 0dB / -18dB works as a pre-set master volume. In -18 dB mode, full Volume gives a level similar to bypass mode, so unity gain sits at the max Volume setting. At 0dB, output rises to 360mV clean or 600mV distorted.

Can the Blue 360 AIAB go into a power amp?

Yes. One Control says the Blue 360 can be used as a preamp into a power amp. Bjorn Juhl notes that if you do this, the sound will start to distort on transients at the full power of the power amp.

What is the Acoustic 360 preamp?

The Acoustic 360 was a solid-state bass preamp, paired with the 361 18-inch powered cabinet. According to Bjorn Juhl's comments on the One Control product page, it may be one of the most-heard but least-acknowledged amps in music, and the Blue 360 reproduces the sound of that preamp.
