One Control Rocket Grey Fuzz

The One Control Rocket Gray Fuzz is an octave up fuzz, a type of fuzz pedal that generates a note an octave above the one you play. Delicious Audio's Paolo De Gregorio described it as "A curiously shaped Octave Up fuzz by One Control", and reported that it was now shipping. The pedal carries two footswitches to control separately the two circuits, for a final tone that sounds less ring-modulated than older designs.¹

Controls and how it works

The pedal keeps its control layout simple, with Volume and Intensity knobs. What sets it apart is the switching: it "features two footswitches to control separately the two circuits", so each of the two circuits inside can be engaged on its own.¹

According to De Gregorio, the design aims "for a final tone that sounds less ring-modulated than older designs", a reference to the unstable, overtone-heavy character some octave up fuzzes produce.¹

Design background

The circuit carries a long development history. Bjorn, the designer, said: "This particular Rocket Grey Fuzz has about 15 years of my research and design inside it."¹
