The Boost Factory is a 2-in-1 pedal from PB&J Pedals that combines a boost and an overdrive in a single enclosure. It brings together two of the maker's own pedals, the Swag Boost and the Surf Drive Deluxe, so a player can cover both boost and overdrive duties from one box and choose which of the two comes first in the signal chain1.
What it does
The pedal has two sides. The Swag Boost side runs through three stages: buffer, clean boost and slightly dirty boost, and a toggle switch adds a bit more treble into your tone if need be. The Surf Drive side is the overdrive half, and PB&J added a new Attenuator knob for it, which acts as an output control so that you can crank up the dirt while still controlling the volume1.
An order toggle switch lets you decide which order the two effects go in, so the boost can push the overdrive or sit after it1.
What reviewers said
Pedal of the Day's reviewer called it "producing a super-useable pedal that will easily find it's place on any pedalboard you can think of", saying it does exactly what it says and has an extra bit of sparkle overall1.
Pedal of the Day's earlier write-up of the Malibu Drive, another PB&J overdrive, teased a forthcoming review of the Boost Factory before it appeared in May 20162.
