The Chipotle / Jalapeño 2-In-1 Overdrive is a guitar effects pedal from Pepper Pedals that packs two circuits into one enclosure: the maker's Chipotle Distortion and its Jalapeño Overdrive. Pedal of the Day featured it on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, describing it as a 2-in-1 dual overdrive12.
What it does
As a dual enclosure, the pedal gives a player two gain stages from Pepper Pedals in a single box: a distortion side (the Chipotle) and an overdrive side (the Jalapeño). Pedal of the Day described it as "a combo of their awesome Chipotle Distortion and Jalapeño Overdrive"1. The site's verdict on the pairing: "Great as individual pedals, killer as a team, the Chipotle and Jalapeño Dual Overdrive is another sonic work of art"1.
This was a custom, one-of-a-kind build rather than a regular catalog product. Mike B wrote that "One-of-a-kind pedals have a special quality about them that regular pedals just don't"1. Players interested in either circuit on its own would look to Pepper Pedals' individual pedals instead.
What reviewers said
Pedal of the Day's review was positive across the board. Mike B's verdict on the pair working together1:
"Great as individual pedals, killer as a team, the Chipotle and Jalapeño Dual Overdrive is another sonic work of art"
That review, dated November 2, 2014, treated the two circuits as strong on their own and stronger combined, which is the case for a dual enclosure in the first place: two related gain pedals from one maker, voiced to stack well, taking one power supply and one slot on a overdrive pedal board instead of two1.
Questions
Is the Chipotle / Jalapeño 2-In-1 Overdrive available to buy?
No. Pedal of the Day described it as a one-of-a-kind custom pedal, combining Pepper Pedals' Chipotle Distortion and Jalapeño Overdrive in a single enclosure. Players who want either circuit on its own can look at Pepper Pedals' individual pedals, such as the Jalapeño Overdrive, which the same site reviewed earlier in 2014.
What is the Chipotle / Jalapeño 2-In-1 Overdrive?
It is a 2-in-1 dual overdrive guitar pedal from Pepper Pedals, a builder of hand-built effects. It puts two of the maker's circuits, the Chipotle Distortion and the Jalapeño Overdrive, into one enclosure, so both can be used separately or together on one board.
