FORM is a multi-effect pedal sold as a DIY kit, created by the Norwegian companies Pladask Elektrisk and BandOrg and announced in February 20181. Unlike a finished pedal, it arrives as a kit the buyer solders together, and the makers organized workshops where attendees were guided through building a unit1.
What it does
FORM carries eight separate effects in one unit1:
- Ring Modulator
- Random Vibrato
- Tape Delay Simulator
- Texture Reverb
- Octave Generator Delay
- Reverse Delay
- Grain Shuffler
- Granular Time Stretch
Several of these point at effect types with their own traditions: the reverse and octave generator delays sit in delay territory, the texture reverb in reverb, and the random vibrato in vibrato. The grain shuffler and granular time stretch are granular-style effects, less common on a pedalboard than the rest of the list.
Building one
FORM was created by Norwegian companies Pladask Elektrisk and BandOrg1. The two makers built it together, which shapes what the unit is: a collaboration between a pedal maker and a partner company rather than a product from a single manufacturer, and the starting point for anyone looking at how FORM fits into either company's range1.
FORM is a solder-it-yourself kit, not a ready-built pedal. A finished unit only exists if the buyer builds it.

Questions
What is the Pladask Elektrisk/BandOrg FORM?
FORM is a collaborative multi-effect pedal sold as a DIY kit, created by the Norwegian companies Pladask Elektrisk and BandOrg. It features eight separate effects: a ring modulator, random vibrato, tape delay simulator, texture reverb, octave generator delay, reverse delay, grain shuffler and granular time stretch. Because it is a DIY kit, the buyer solders the unit themselves, and guided workshops were organized where attendees build a unit with help.
Do I have to solder the FORM myself?
Yes. FORM ships as a DIY kit that the buyer solders together. When the pedal was announced in February 2018, the makers also organized DIY workshops where attendees were guided through the soldering of a unit, so players without soldering experience had a way to build one with help.
