The SalemFuzz Attack Captain is a fuzz pedal from Pure Salem Guitars, announced at the NAMM show in February 2016 as one of the first three SalemFuzz pedals. Pure Salem described the Attack Captain as a "Classic 60's fuzz", aimed at players after the saturated, sustaining fuzz tones of that era1.
A limited run, twice corrected
When Pure Salem announced the SalemFuzz line at NAMM 2016, the pedals were presented as limited-run future collectables, with a stated run of 250. On 15 August 2016, Rick Sell of PureSalem corrected that figure: only 25 of each pedal were being produced, not 250 per year1. For a player hunting one secondhand, that makes the Attack Captain a genuinely scarce pedal rather than a nominally limited one.
The first three SalemFuzz pedals for 2016 were each based on a different style of fuzz, with the Attack Captain covering the classic 60s take. The other two models in the launch set are the SalemFuzz Honey Bunny and the SalemFuzz Pink Beard1.
Price
All three launch pedals, the Attack Captain included, were set to cost USD $225 each when announced in February 20161.
