The Recovery Effects REVERE Limited Edition/Blemish is a "Dynamic Op-Amp Overdrive" built in a vintage-style steel enclosure and sold as a blemished unit. The maker describes the REVERE as a natural, expressive overdrive that breaks up evenly like a tube amp and responds dynamically to your playing, and this version carries a minor surface scratch on the face that Recovery Effects says is very light and does not affect function or overall appearance.1
The Limited Edition and its blemish
This is the REVERE in a limited run: a British-style steel enclosure of the kind used on several well-known pedals from the 1960s, hand-brushed and patinated to an antique bronze finish with vintage-style lamp jewel lights. Because the finish is done by hand, Recovery Effects says every pedal will have its own subtle variations, making each one unique.1
The "blemish" in the name refers to a minor surface scratch on the face. The maker describes the mark as very light and says it does not affect function or overall appearance.1
The limited edition was listed as sold out, with an email option to be notified when the product is available.1
Circuit and sound
The REVERE does not use clipping diodes. Recovery Effects says this results in a very natural breakup with an excellent signal-to-noise ratio. Instead, the preamp stage is an NPN booster that feeds a high-quality, studio-grade Burr Brown op-amp, which the maker says keeps the natural sound of the guitar and amplifier.1
The drive range runs from clean and natural to textured and saturated overdrive, which the maker calls versatile. The tone control provides a wide range of sonic shaping possibilities while preserving the character of your amplifier, and Recovery Effects describes it as incredibly active.1
"incredibly active"
For comparison, the standard REVERE in its classic small enclosure is covered on its own page: Recovery Effects REVERE. Recovery Effects notes that its demo shows the classic small enclosure, but the limited edition in the vintage-style enclosure sounds exactly the same.1
Size and power
The enclosure is large by modern pedal standards. Recovery Effects gives approximate dimensions1:
| Dimension | Measurement |
|---|---|
| Base length | 10.25" |
| Width, widest point | 5" |
| Width, narrowest point | 4" |
| Height, tallest point | 1.75" |
The pedal operates on a standard 9Vdc Boss-style power supply, which is not included.1
It sits in the overdrive family alongside the maker's other drives, such as the Recovery Effects Gallows In The Morning, and among Overdrive Pedals generally it is unusual for leaving out clipping diodes entirely.1
