power supply
On pedalboards, dedicated power supplies such as the Strymon Zuma or NUX Zeus Jr. provide multiple isolated, low-noise outputs so many pedals can run from one unit12. Daisy chains of plugs can also power several pedals from a single supply3. Power supply design can affect tone: builders redesign supply circuits for sound quality4, fluctuating supply voltage can make a pedal feel responsive5, and supply sag can contribute to overdrive character6. Supply voltage matters too, since some pedals sound louder when run above 9 volts7.
