The RJM Effects Green Vodka Fuzz is a fuzz pedal for guitar. Pedal of the Day's product page describes it simply as "the Green Vodka Fuzz guitar effects pedal from RJM Effects"1. The circuit is a take on the Big Muff family of fuzzes: reviewer Kyle, writing for Pedal of the Day, called it "a Muff variant with some amazing mods added"2.
What it does
As a fuzz, the pedal saturates the guitar signal into a thick, sustaining distortion, the sound associated with the Muff design. Kyle's review placed it squarely in the Russian Muff tradition: "Very like the 90's era Sovtek Muffs. So thick and Hairy."2 The Sovtek-built Muffs of that era are known among players for a darker, heavier character than their American counterparts, and the Green Vodka Fuzz follows that lead while adding its own modifications to the circuit2.
His overall verdict was positive: "A great tone machine here for your listening pleasure!"2
Related pedals
The Green Vodka name also appears on a later pedal from a different maker. The McCaffrey Audio Green Vodka Muff was covered by Pedal of the Day in October 20153. Players comparing the two should treat them as separate products: the RJM Effects original and the McCaffrey Audio version share a name, but they come from different builders3.
