The Screaming Bat is a dual overdrive/distortion pedal from Sentimental Bob Electronics that recreates several versions of two venerable gain pedals, the Tube Screamer and the RAT, while also adding clipping options of its own1. If you have ever wanted a Tube Screamer-style overdrive and a RAT-style distortion on the same board without giving up two pedal slots, this is the kind of pedal built around that idea.
What it does
The pedal splits its two circuits left and right, each with its own mode switch1:
| Channel | Circuit | Toggle switch |
|---|---|---|
| Right | Tube Screamer emulation | "normal" and "Fat" mode |
| Left | RAT emulation | Classic RAT and Turbo one |
The right side channel is the one featuring the Tube Screamer emulation, and it carries a toggle switch with a "normal" and a "Fat" mode1. On the left, a similar switch lets you choose between Classic RAT and Turbo one1, covering both the original and the hotter Turbo take on the RAT circuit.
The clipping toggle on the right gives you three clipping options that can be assigned internally from five: clean boost, symmetrical clipping, asymmetrical clipping, mosfet clipping and LED clipping1. In practice, that means you pick which three of the five clipping types the switch cycles through by setting jumpers or switches inside the pedal, then flip between them from the top panel as you play. The clean boost option effectively turns that setting into a boost with no clipping at all.
The three clipping positions on the toggle are chosen from five internal options, so two of the five clipping types are not available at the switch at any one time until you reassign them internally1.

Questions
What is the Sentimental Bob Electronics Screaming Bat?
It is a dual overdrive/distortion pedal that recreates several versions of two well-known gain pedals, the Tube Screamer and the RAT. The right channel handles the Tube Screamer emulation with a normal and Fat mode, while the left channel covers the RAT side with a choice between Classic RAT and Turbo. A toggle switch also offers three clipping options assigned internally from five choices.
What clipping options does the Screaming Bat offer?
The toggle switch on the right gives you three clipping options that can be assigned internally from five: clean boost, symmetrical clipping, asymmetrical clipping, mosfet clipping and LED clipping. That means you set which three are available at the switch by opening the pedal up, then choose among them while playing.
