The Sonic Fusion Overdrive is an overdrive pedal from Sonic Fusion Pedals aimed at the smooth saturation and compression players associate with Dumble amplifiers. Premier Guitar's reviewers, writing in a six-pedal overdrive roundup, found it well built and judged that at $149 it "punches well above its price class"1.
Controls
The pedal carries the four familiar overdrive controls plus a toggle switch, with two additions that set its voicing2.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Four standard controls | The familiar overdrive layout2 |
| Normal/Fat toggle | Selects between Normal and Fat settings2 |
| Contour knob | Transforms higher-gain sounds from tight and compressed to glassy and open1 |
| Tone knob | Ranges from muffled and fuzzy to an exaggerated bright sizzle1 |
| Bass boost | Calls up additional bottom-end thump and roundness without being overbearing1 |
What reviewers found
Premier Guitar's reviewers described the pedal as capturing the smooth saturation and compression associated with Dumble amplifiers1. They also found it flexible beyond that brief: paired with a Matamp GT40, they reported it "delivered Marshall-flavored tones reminiscent of a cranked JMP with less upper midrange honk and a bit less bite"1.
Their verdict: "It's well built, and at $149 bucks, it punches well above its price class." The reviewers suggested it could be a go-to overdrive for anyone looking beyond typical overdrive tones1.
