The Ghost Drive Pre-Built DIY Transparent Overdrive is a transparent overdrive pedal from StewMac, the company better known for guitar-making supplies. It is the pre-built version of StewMac's Ghost Drive DIY kit: the same circuit, professionally assembled and ready to go straight onto a pedalboard, with no soldering or kit-building required. Pedal of the Day described it as "professionally built and ready to play," noting that it "comes straight out of the box ready to hit your board."1
What it does
The Ghost Drive is a faithful recreation of the Klon Centaur Transparent Overdrive circuit. Pedal of the Day reported that StewMac set about "faithfully recreating the circuit, scouring the globe to track down the very same components Bill Finnegan used," and that the pedal uses the "same historically correct components" as the originals.1
The appeal for players is access to a circuit that has become expensive and hard to find in its original form. Pedal of the Day framed the pre-built Ghost Drive as "giving players of all types access to a mythical, magical tone that's unobtainable for most," calling it "the authentic tone of a legend."1
"The Ghost Drive Pre-Built DIY Transparent Overdrive brings a classic circuit to the forefront."
