The TC Electronic Flourescence Shimmer Reverb is a reverb pedal dedicated to the shimmer effect, in which the reverb tail carries an octave-up sheen over the dry signal. TC Electronic describes it as a "Shimmer Reverb" in its stompbox range1.
Where it came from
The pedal belongs to a specific chapter of TC Electronic's history. De Gregorio wrote that it "belongs to the series of affordable but sturdy pedals the Danish manufacturers released after being bought by German builder Behringer"1. In other words, it is part of the budget-minded line TC Electronic put out following the Behringer acquisition, aimed at players who want a solid enclosure at a lower price point than the company's flagship pedals.
Where it sits in TC's reverb range
TC Electronic's reverb lineup runs from the compact Skysurfer Mini and HOF Mini through the TonePrint-equipped Hall of Fame 2 and the studio-oriented Arena. The Flourescence Shimmer Reverb is the specialist of that range: where the Hall of Fame pedals cover many reverb types in one box, the Flourescence concentrates on shimmer alone1.
A demo of the pedal by GearManDude was embedded on Delicious Audio's product page at the time of its 2018 coverage1.
