The Tsakalis AudioWorks MultiCab MKIII is a preamp and cabinet simulator pedal, released in May 2020, that aims to deliver tube-amp tone without the amp. Guitar World described it as a "versatile analog/digital stompbox" with eight virtual guitar amp cabinets and natural room ambience on the digital side, and an analog path handling the preamp type, power amp voicing, cabinet back type and microphone type controls1. It sits in the wider family of preamp pedals and speaker simulation pedals.

What it does

The pedal combines an analog signal path with digital cabinet modeling. The analog section is responsible for the pre-amp type, power-amp voicing, cabinet back type and microphone type controls, while the digital side provides the eight virtual guitar amp cabinets and natural room ambience1. Tsakalis describes the cab models as "heavily inspired on some legendary and iconic guitar amps and cabinets"1.

The eight virtual cabinets include a 1x10 model inspired by a 1962 Fender Princeton amp loaded with one 10-inch Oxford 10J4 speaker1.

Availability

The MultiCab MKIII was available for pre-order from its May 2020 announcement until May 25, at a 15% discounted pre-order price of $238.991.
