The Universal Audio UAFX Del-Verb Ambience Companion is a digital stereo delay and reverb pedal: two effects in one box, each with its own footswitch and three modes. It was announced around NAMM 2023 as one of the latest offerings in the UAFX line up, alongside the Galaxy '74 and Max Compressor12.
What it is and what it does
The Del-Verb is a delay and reverb combo pedal2, and MusicRadar's review describes it as distilling the best bits of two other UAFX pedals into one simple unit: "Distilling the best bits of two other UAFX pedals into one simple unit, the Del-Verb makes so much sense for ambient soundscapers the web says"1. Those two pedals are the Starlight Echo Station delay and the Golden Reverberator: MusicRadar calls the Del-Verb "a greatest hits collection; taking three of the delays and reverb algorithms from each of those aforementioned" pedals1.
Delicious Audio's buying guide describes the layout as "A dual delay + reverb with separate footswitches and three modes for each effect"5, so the two effects can be used separately or together.
Modes and where the algorithms come from
The delay side sits first in the chain and has a separate knob for modulation. Its three modes map to three algorithms6:
| Delay mode | Based on |
|---|---|
| Tape | Echo from the '60s based on the Echoplex EP-31 |
| Analog | Bucket Brigade delay from the '70s based on the EHX Deluxe Memory Man1 |
| Digital | Universal Audio's own Precision digital delay1 |
The reverb side offers Spring, Plate and Hall modes57. gearnews.com sums up the pedal's range as covering "tape and delay models, through to models of classic reverb units and even some chorus and vibrato thrown in"7.
All algorithms here are borrowed from Universal Audio's library of pro audio plugins5. MusicRadar's review names the hardware behind them: the Echoplex EP-3, the EHX Deluxe Memory Man, the EMT 140, the Lexicon 224 and the Fender Deluxe Reverb (Spring '65)1.
Controls and connectivity
MusicRadar lists the controls as Reverb level, Delay time, Feedback, Mix, Color and Modulation, plus three-way delay and reverb type selector mini toggle switches, and Delay and Reverb or Tap (tempo) bypass footswitches1. Delicious Audio adds that 4 of the 6 knobs have a double function through a three-way toggle switch, and that the control knobs affect algorithm-specific settings6.
A free app allows tweaking settings and managing presets5. Universal Audio has also improved connectivity with its app via Bluetooth and added a new hardwired USB-to-Mobile connection option in firmware 2.01.
How it compares
Against the Orion Tape Echo, MusicRadar's review of the Orion notes that the Del-Verb "doesn't have the same level of control (or preamp mode)"3. The two sit at different prices in the same review: "They're $399 and $349, respectively"3.
gearnews.com's review of the compact UAFX quartet found the Heavenly and Evermore reverbs inferior to the full-size Del-Verb7, and Guitar.com's team listed the Del-Verb among its ten favorite pedals and effects of 20231.

Questions
How much does the UAFX Del-Verb cost?
MusicRadar's review lists the Del-Verb at $349, with the Orion Tape Echo at $399. A gearnews.com buying guide from July 2025 lists it at $325.00, so published figures differ. At launch in April 2023 it was announced at $349/£325/€379 and available then.
Can the Del-Verb delay and reverb be used separately?
Yes. The Del-Verb is a dual delay plus reverb with separate footswitches for each effect, so you can run delay alone, reverb alone, or both together. Each side has three modes: the delay offers Analog, Tape and Digital, and the reverb offers Spring, Plate and Hall.
Is there an app for the Del-Verb?
Yes. A free app allows tweaking settings and managing presets. Universal Audio has also improved connectivity with its app via Bluetooth and added a hardwired USB-to-Mobile connection option in firmware 2.0. The pedal also has a USB-C input for firmware updates via the UAFX Control desktop app.
How does the Del-Verb compare with the Orion Tape Echo for controls?
MusicRadar's review of the Orion Tape Echo notes that the Del-Verb doesn't have the same level of control, or the Orion's preamp mode. On the Del-Verb itself, four of the six knobs have a double function through a three-way toggle switch, and the knobs affect algorithm-specific settings.
What delay modes does the Del-Verb have?
The delay side has three modes: Analog, Tape and Digital. The Tape mode is an echo from the '60s based on the Echoplex EP-3, the Analog mode is a Bucket Brigade delay from the '70s based on the EHX Deluxe Memory Man, and the Digital mode is Universal Audio's own Precision digital delay. The delay also has a separate knob for modulation and sits first in the chain.
