The Warm Audio WA-C1-MOD is a compact stereo chorus and vibrato pedal with an added preamp bypass, made by Warm Audio. It is a reduced, pedalboard-friendly version of the company's larger WA-C1, which Warm Audio describes as packing "all of the vintage tones, functionality, and vibe of the famous original chorus/vibrato pedal" into a smaller format1. Like the larger WA-C1, it has a dedicated vibrato section and a 100% analog preamp1.
What it does
The WA-C1-MOD is a recreation, in Warm Audio's words, of "the most celebrated all-analog chorus effects pedal," built on vintage Bucket Brigade analog chorus circuitry1. Warm Audio points it at a range of sounds: dark 70s-style chorus, pristine 80s chorus, rotary-style subtle vibrato, and Leslie-style chorus for electric keys applications1.
The Vintage/Modern switch is the pedal's distinguishing control. It engages or bypasses the analog preamp, giving classic vintage character when engaged or cleaner, more modern chorus tones when bypassed1.
WA-C1-MOD vs WA-C1
| WA-C1-MOD | WA-C1 | |
|---|---|---|
| Format | Compact, pedalboard-friendly | Larger format |
| Jacks | Top-mounted | Not top-mounted |
| Vintage preamp | Bypassable via Vintage/Modern switch | Not bypassable |

Compared to the WA-C1, the Mod adds top-mounted jacks and the Vintage/Modern switch that makes the vintage preamp bypassable1. Players who want the full-size version can read about it on the Warm Audio WA-C1 page, and more chorus designs are covered on the Chorus Pedals type page. For pure pitch wobble without the chorus voices, see Vibrato Pedals.
