The Way Huge Chalky Box is a limited edition version of the Way Huge Saucy Box, an overdrive pedal. Announced in March 2020, it carries the same circuit as the Saucy Box inside a chalkboard paint finish, with a set of chalk included in the package so the player can write on the enclosure. It was listed at an RRP of USD 119 at announcement12.
What it does
The Chalky Box is an overdrive: it pushes the signal into the same circuit as the Saucy Box. Guitar.com reported that the pedal is internally identical to the Saucy Box, so the difference between the two is the finish and the packaging rather than the sound1. gearnews.com described it the same way, calling it identical with Way Huge's Saucy Box overdrive pedal2.
The Chalky Box was announced as a limited reissue of the Saucy Box, and it was available only from select retailers, all tagged in a Way Huge Instagram post1. gearnews.com noted that the pedal would only be available from a few outlets, and its writer expected the limited run to become pretty sought-after by pedal collectors2.
The Chalky Box was a limited edition run from 2020. Way Huge's current overdrive range includes pedals such as the Green Rhino MKIV, Red Llama, Pork Loin and Conspiracy Theory.
Buying it as parts
Jim Dunlop, which owns the Way Huge brand, has offered the Saucy Box Overdrive Chalky Box Edition as electronic parts. The parts listing states that Dunlop Electronic Parts are offered for sale with the qualified technician in mind, and advises installation by a qualified technician for anyone without experience3. The Saucy Box Overdrive Limited Edition is offered the same way, as parts intended for qualified technicians4.
