The Way Huge Smalls Attack Vector Phaser & Envelope is a compact guitar effects pedal that combines a phase shifter and an envelope filter in one enclosure. Jim Dunlop, which makes and distributes Way Huge pedals, describes it as "a single dangerous machine" that cranks out off-kilter sounds, from "bee stings" suited to funky moods to "gloopy syrup" for low strings1. It arrived in January 2023 as one of the first notable pedal releases of that year2.
Jim Dunlop's product page now marks the Attack Vector as a "LEGACY PRODUCT / NO LONGER IN PRODUCTION"1. It launched in January 2023 and was reported as available at that time2, but it has since been retired from the range.
What it does and how it is controlled
The Attack Vector puts two classic funk-adjacent effects, a phaser and an envelope filter, in one Smalls-sized box2. A central switch selects the phaser alone, the envelope filter alone, or both blended together24. Four knobs set the two effects:
| Control | What it sets |
|---|---|
| Phaser Feedback knob | Feedback of the phaser4 |
| Phaser Speed knob | Speed of the phaser4 |
| Envelope Filter Sensitivity knob | Sensitivity of the envelope filter4 |
| Envelope Filter Range knob | Range of the envelope filter4 |
Guitar World's Michael Astley-Brown, writing at launch, suggested what the maker's descriptions meant in practice: "we're pretty sure that translates to '70s phase sweetness at the subtler end and swirling ray gun duck quacks at more extreme settings"4.
Guitar and bass
Way Huge designed the Attack Vector for both guitarists and bassists4. The maker's page says the pedal's "bratty attitude works great with electric bass as well as guitar"1, and guitar.com reported at launch that it "works just as well with electric bass as it does with electric guitars"2. Premier Guitar's first look likewise noted the pedal's attitude is intended to work with bass as well as guitar3. Astley-Brown added that he imagined the sounds "could prove particularly popular with lovers of the low-end"4.
Price and availability
At launch on 17 January 2023, Guitar World reported the Attack Vector as "available now for $199"4, while guitar.com reported it as "available now for $200"2. The two press reports differ slightly, so both figures stand as stated. The pedal is no longer in production1.

Questions
Can you use the Way Huge Attack Vector with bass?
Yes. Way Huge's maker page says the Attack Vector's bratty attitude works great with electric bass as well as guitar, and both guitar.com and Guitar World reported the same at launch. Guitar World's Michael Astley-Brown wrote that the pedal was designed for both guitarists and bassists, and suggested its sounds could prove particularly popular with lovers of the low-end.
Can the Attack Vector run the phaser and envelope filter at the same time?
Yes. A central switch selects the phaser alone, the envelope filter alone, or a blended mode with both effects running together. guitar.com's Liberty Dunworth reported that users can choose to use the phase shifter and envelope filter isolated or combined using the switch in the middle of the unit.
Is the Way Huge Smalls Attack Vector still in production?
No. Jim Dunlop's product page now lists the Attack Vector Phaser & Envelope as a legacy product that is no longer in production. It launched in January 2023 and was available at that time, but the maker has since retired it from the range.
How much did the Attack Vector cost?
At its January 2023 launch, Guitar World reported the pedal as available for $199, while guitar.com reported $200. The two press reports differ slightly, so both figures are given here as stated at launch.
