The Way Huge Smalls Swollen Pickle Fuzz is a compact fuzz pedal built around a Muff-style fuzz circuit, the same family of design that gave the Big Muff its name in fuzz circles. Delicious Audio's Paolo De Gregorio described it as part of "Way Huge's Muff-style fuzz series," a smaller version of the full-size Swollen Pickle Jumbo Fuzz1. The maker's own manual calls it a pedal that "concentrates all the potent flavors of its predecessors into a super pedalboard-friendly housing with a simpler interface so that you can plug in and serve up savory saturation in no time at all"2.
Controls
The Smalls version trims the interface down but keeps the tone-shaping switches. Guitar World's Amit Sharma, covering its 2020 announcement, noted that it "has controls for Loudness, Sustain and Filter to sculpt the right shade of fuzz, also benefitting from switches for Scoop and Crunch"5.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| SUSTAIN knob | Sets fuzz intensity2 |
| Loudness knob | Output level5 |
| Filter knob | Toneshaping5 |
| SCOOP switch | Cuts midrange frequencies2 |
| Crunch switch | Additional gain and voicing shaping2 |
| FOOTSWITCH | Toggles the effect on/bypass; a blue LED indicates the effect is on2 |
The manual lists a noise floor of -82 dBV2.
Where it sits in the Pickle range
The Swollen Pickle line has grown into a family. Alongside this Smalls version there is the full-size Swollen Pickle Jumbo Fuzz MkIIS and the Swollen Pickle MKII, the Russian Pickle variant, and the limited Jumbo Fuzz Swollen Pickle XXX released for the design's 30th anniversary in 2026. Way Huge's fuzz range also reaches further afield with the Smalls Doom Hammer Fuzz, the Stone Burner Sub Atomic Fuzz and the Havalina Germanium Fuzz.
