The Westminster Effects Wittenberg Bass Preamp is a bass preamp built around a parametric EQ section, with a Frequency control for setting the center frequency of the EQ1. It carries a street price of $159.991. It sits alongside other preamp pedals in the Westminster Effects range, such as the Geneva Amp Sim and the Zurich Preamp.
Controls and connections
The pedal keeps things to three knobs, each with a distinct job in shaping the tone1:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Volume | Sets the output level |
| Frequency | Sets the center frequency of the EQ |
| EQ | Sets how steep the EQ's curvature is |
Because the Frequency control sets the center frequency and the EQ control sets the steepness of the curve, the Wittenberg works as a parametric EQ: rather than a fixed band, the player chooses where the EQ acts and how broad or narrow its effect is1. For bass players, that means it can be tuned to the specific problem area, whether tightening a muddy low mid or bringing out a particular harmonic.
On the connection side, the pedal has a 1/4-inch output2.
Where it sits in the series
The Wittenberg was announced as the bass-focused model in a three-pedal preamp/DI series: the Geneva Amp Sim covers electric guitar tones, the Zurich Preamp is aimed at acoustic instruments, and the Wittenberg handles bass2. Players comparing across the range can see the Preamp Pedals page for the wider category, or Bass Pedals for bass-specific effects of other kinds.
