The ZVEX Fat Fuzz Factory FFFTK01 is a one-of-a-kind prototype fuzz pedal from ZVex, built on the workbench rather than as a production run. ZVEX describes it as a prototype built while the company was experimenting with tone controls on the Fuzz Factory circuit, and it carries the workbench notes to show for it. It was listed on the ZVEX site at $349.00 USD and is sold out1.
What it does
The pedal takes the Fuzz Factory circuit, the basis of ZVEX's best-known fuzz family, and adds a tone control to it. What makes the FFFTK01 different from a standard Fuzz Factory is that this tone control can be bypassed with a stomp switch, so a player can switch between the voiced tone control and the raw Fuzz Factory sound mid-song1.
Because it is a prototype, ZVEX presents it as a piece of the company's own development history: the unit that came out of the experiments that explored how a tone control could work on this circuit1. Players interested in the production version of that idea can look at the ZVEX Fat Fuzz Factory, and the wider family includes the Vexter Fuzz Factory, the Fuzz Factory 7 and the Silicon Fuzz Factory.
