Glossary
blend
Blend, in guitar effects, refers to mixing two or more signals or tonal qualities together, often via a dedicated blend control. A clean blend lets players mix clean signal with a distorted or fuzzed signal, restoring punchy note attack and keeping delay trails clear12. Some pedals offer individual blend controls for dry and effected voices, such as dry, octave-up, and sub-octave signals3. Blend can also describe combining harmonic types, as when increased input level produces a mix of even- and odd-order harmonics4, or a manufacturer's mixing of vintage tones with contemporary technology5.
