hall reverb

Hall reverb is a reverb type that simulates the sound of large reverberated spaces such as cathedrals and halls, where the decay seems to go on forever1. It became popular in the 1980s, made possible by digital signal processing2. Hall reverb appears as a mode on many pedals, often alongside plate and spring types3, and is typically controlled with decay time for perceived size and damping for the tail's top-end EQ4. At extreme settings it tends to emphasize high-octave content5, and some designs extend it with octave-up shimmer or feedback effects6.
