point-to-point
Point-to-point is a construction method in which a circuit's components are wired directly to one another or to a board's terminals rather than mounted on a printed circuit board12. It appears in pedals such as fuzzes, overdrives, and preamps, where builders describe it as handwired or hardwired construction, sometimes using turrets or eyelet and perforated boards13456. Some pedals combine it with PCB wiring, described as mixed PCB and point-to-point wiring7. It is often paired with vintage or NOS components in vintage-inspired designs84. One reviewer notes that clean soldering and wire routing avoid the rat's nest look of some sloppy point-to-point circuits9.
