shimmer reverb
Shimmer reverb is a reverb effect that mixes high or low octaves into the reverb tail while leaving the dry signal unaffected, producing an eerie decay of high octave trails12. It was first developed by Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, originally by patching together reverb and pitch-shift units in the studio3. The effect came to be around the early to mid 1980s and was popularized by U2's The Unforgettable Fire14. Eno used it extensively on his ambient recordings, and it has since been embraced by pedal-builders and ambient players3.
