stripboard

Stripboard, also called Veroboard or vero, is a construction board with copper strips on one side used to build effects circuits, with components mounted on the non-metal side and solder applied to the copper side12. Cuts in the strips separate connections, and on some layouts these cuts are marked with red dots3. In effects history, pedals such as the Sola Sound Tone Bender MKI and MK1.5 were assembled on stripboard, with the MK1.5 using a brown compressed fiber board mounted on a folded aluminum bracket that acted as a grounding point4. Some circuits, like the John Hornby Skewes Zonk II, later changed from stripboard to a dedicated printed circuit board5. Stripboard remains common in DIY effect layouts, including vero layouts published on Guitar FX Layouts67.
