Jackson Audio Unveils the Golden Boy Overdrive Leave a comment

Texas-headquartered effects manufacturer Jackson Audio has teamed up slide guitar maestro Joey Landreth for a brand-new limited-edition signature stompbox, the Golden Boy Overdrive.

The Golden Boy is a King Of Tone-esque circuit modified to the Canadian’s liking. Sporting the same chassis and build as Jackson Audio’s revered Broken Arrow, the unit boasts an update circuit that alters the Broken Arrow’s TS808-style chip with something closer to a Bluesbreaker. From a sweet hum to full-on chugging gain, the Golden Boy’s versatility is its secret weapon.

“The Bluesbreaker circuit has been my favorite overdrive circuit forever. I have a collection of clones that I love. The Golden Boy takes that classic tasteful circuit adds some 3D depth, marries it with the modern ideas of Brad Jackson and turns it into an absolute Swiss Army knife for just about any pedalboard,” Joey Landreth stated.

Per Jackson Audio, the features include full MIDI control, a three-band active EQ, a four-way gain cycle function, 4X overdrive clipping diode options, independently switchable MOSFET boost with four EQ settings, and transparent overdrive via the Bluesbreaker/King of Tone circuit.

Only 500 Golden Boy Joey Landreth Signature Overdrive will be available. Each unit will come hand-signed by Joey Landreth himself.
