Paradox Effects Introduces Feature-Leaden the Carmesí Phaser Leave a comment

Mexican stompbox manufacturer Paradox Effects has lifted the veil from the Carmesí all-pass phase modulator.

With the new feature-laden phaser, you have the choice between four- and eight-stage phasing, with the former yielding a “swaying warm shift” and the latter creating a throatier sound similar to “a voice speaking to you in a lucid dream,” as Paradox puts it.

Also making it to the cut is a Sendero switch, which the brand describes as “an envelope follower being processed by a sample and hold system, generating phase shifting steps as you attack your instrument.”

Other controls include Intensidad (intensity), Fasor (phase level), Velocidad (velocity/speed), Resonancia (resonance), Directa (direct signal amplitude), and Enfoque that employs a low-pass filter for better resonance control.

Not content with that, the Carmesí also incorporates a TRS input for utilization with an expression stompbox. You can hear the pedal in action in the demo video below. And while the clip’s narration is in Spanish, YouTube has subtitles toggle for English translation.

The Paradox Effects Carmesí is out now with a price tag of $199. For more details (and audio samples), check out the brand’s website.
