The 6 Degrees FX Sally Drive Classic DC is an overdrive pedal, and a take on a classic, the 808 Tube Screamer, but with some beef. Reviewing it for Pedal of the Day in March 2015, Mike B wrote that 6 Degrees took the general layout of the 808 and improved upon it, while it holds the same characteristics as that sought-after circuit. He also noted the enclosure "looks like a race car on your pedalboard."1
Controls and the Boost footswitch
The pedal carries Level, Tone and Gain controls, like a regular Tube Screamer, but with seemingly more range and vibrance, according to the review.1
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Level | Output volume; the reviewer found plenty of volume on tap for setting it against the rest of a rig1 |
| Tone | Tone shaping, as on a standard Tube Screamer1 |
| Gain | Drive amount, as on a standard Tube Screamer1 |
As a bonus, there is a second footswitch which activates the Boost setting, adding up to 15dB of boost, adjustable via an internal trimpot. The Boost function comes after the drive section of the pedal, so it can be used to heighten any other pedal placed after the Sally Drive in the chain.1
What reviewers said
Mike B, writing on Pedal of the Day, found the pedal would not color your tone, "really laying back in the mix with an overlay of transparency." On level, he wrote: "Plenty of volume makes it easy to set this in conjunction with the rest of your rig, no worries there."1
