The AMT Preamp Switching System (V1, O2, P2, WH-1) is AMT Electronics' grouping of its V1, O2 and P2 preamp units together with the WH-1, arranged so that they can be run and switched as a single preamp setup rather than as separate standalone pedals. For a player, the idea is to combine several of AMT's preamp voices in one rig and move between them, in the territory covered by preamp pedals and switching pedals. The individual units in the system are covered on their own pages: the AMT V1, the AMT O2 and the AMT P2.

What it does

The system's role is to let several AMT preamp units work together and be switched between, so a player can build a multi-voice preamp rig from AMT's range instead of choosing a single unit. AMT lists a Noise Gate among the system's features, and describes it as a global setting, meaning it applies across the system as a whole rather than being set separately for each preamp in the chain1. A noise gate quiets the signal when you are not playing, which matters in a multi-preamp setup where each stage can add its own noise.
