The AMT V1 is a guitar preamp pedal from AMT Electronics, part of the company's "Legend Amps" series of one-channel JFET preamps. AMT describes it as a 100% analog tool designed around the specs of the classy UK British VOX amplifier, covering what the maker calls "all tones from juicy clean to smooth but punchy low gain overdrive" in one small box1. It is listed as available now on AMT's product page1.
Channels, switching and the LED
The V1 is a preamp with an internal Clean-to-Low-gain-Overdrive channel and the possibility of switching to an external channel by foot switch. AMT says that external channel accepts any auxiliary overdrive effect, so the pedal can act as the front end of a two-amp-style rig with a separate overdrive pedal doing the high-gain work1.
A bi-color LED on the front panel shows which channel is active1:
| LED color | Channel | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Green | Clean (internal) | Internal Clean-to-Low-gain-Overdrive channel active |
| Red | Lead (external) | External unit connected via Ch. send and Ch. return |
AMT's demo video for the V1 lists the preamp section as analog with Clean, Low gain and High gain modes, plus a Power Amp control with 9 types and a Noise Gate as a global setting3.
Cab simulation and running into a power amp
The V1 includes IR cab simulation, with one IR covering both L/R channels per preset4. That matters if you run the pedal without a guitar cabinet: AMT's own demo shows the V1 connected to the power amp input of a Laney VC50, using the pedal as the preamp section of the rig3. An earlier Legend Amps V1 demo video from AMT's media center lists the same feature set, including the IR cabsim and the global noise gate5.
AMT's media center has also posted V1 demo videos aimed at particular players' sounds, including "The Sound of The Edge (U2)"65 and "The Sound of Brian May (Queen)", both of which list the noise gate as a global setting.
The V1's IR cab simulation means it can be run directly into a power amp input, as AMT demonstrated with a Laney VC50, rather than only into the front of a guitar amp3.
Where it sits in the Legend Amps range
The V1 is one of a series of single-channel preamps AMT builds around different amplifier voicings. Others in the wider AMT preamp line include the AMT P2, the AMT F1 and the AMT SS-20, and AMT also documents a preamp switching system built around combining units like the V1, O2 and P2. For the broader category, see the site's preamp pedals page1.

Questions
Is the AMT V1 fully analog?
Yes. AMT Electronics describes the V1 as a 100% analog tool for guitar sound shaping. The preamp section is analog with Clean, Low gain and High gain modes, and the IR cab simulation works with one IR covering both L/R channels per preset. AMT's demo videos list the unit as an analog preamp with a global noise gate setting.
Does the AMT V1 come with a power supply?
Yes. According to AMT Electronics' product page, the AMT Electronics V1 comes with a 12V power supply included, so it does not rely on a battery or an external purchase to run.
Can the AMT V1 switch to an external overdrive?
Yes. The V1 has an internal Clean-to-Low-gain-Overdrive channel and can switch to an external channel, which AMT says accepts any auxiliary overdrive effect, by foot switch. A bi-color LED shows which channel is active: green for the Clean channel and red for the Lead external channel when connected via Ch. send and Ch. return.
Does the AMT V1 have a cab simulator?
Yes. AMT's demo material lists IR cab simulation with one IR for both L/R channels per preset, so each preset can carry a speaker simulation across the stereo pair. That makes the V1 usable directly into a power amp input or full-range setup, as AMT demonstrated with a Laney VC50.
