The Asheville Guitar Pedals Echo Machine Delay is a mini delay pedal: a digital delay in a small enclosure with simple, easy-to-use controls for shaping the effect. Pedal of the Day reviewed it in April 2024, calling it "a little mini pedal with simple controls"1.
What it does
As a digital delay, the Echo Machine records a slice of your signal and plays it back after a set time. Its delay time reaches up to 400 milliseconds, which covers short room-style repeats through to longer, more spacious echoes. Pedal of the Day described the range as "allowing you to effortlessly transition from room echo to a full-bodied cathedral-like ambience"1.
"Experience the mesmerizing power of digital echoes and captivating reverberations with the Echo Machine."
Controls and design
The pedal keeps its control layout small, in keeping with its mini format. Pedal of the Day highlighted its "easy-to-use controls for customizing the effect" and noted its silver enclosure1.
- Format: mini pedal
- Enclosure: silver
- Controls: simple, easy-to-use set for customizing the effect
- Maximum delay time: 400 milliseconds1
How it compares
The name Echo Machine has been used by other makers on unrelated pedals. The Ibanez EM5 Echo Machine is an analog-voiced digital delay designed to emulate 1970s tape delay units2, and the Greyscale Devices Echo Machine+ is an echo/delay pedal that Pedal of the Day called a "one-of-a-kind echo/delay pedal"3. The Asheville Guitar Pedals Echo Machine Delay is a separate design from either, and players shopping by name should check the maker.
Within Asheville Guitar Pedals' own range, Pedal of the Day has also reviewed The Follower Delay, another delay pedal from the maker4.

Questions
Is the Echo Machine Delay analog or digital?
It is a digital delay pedal. Pedal of the Day's review describes experiencing the digital echoes and reverberations of the Echo Machine, and lists it among digital delay pedals. Its maximum delay time is 400 milliseconds, which suits shorter rhythmic and ambient repeats rather than long, self-oscillating delay lines.
How much delay time does the Echo Machine Delay have?
Up to 400 milliseconds, according to Pedal of the Day's 2024 review. That range covers everything from tight, room-sized repeats to longer, more spacious echoes, which the review describes as transitioning from room echo to a full-bodied, cathedral-like ambience.
