The BLAMMO! Electronics Goodbye Kitty is a fuzz pedal built on the Shin-Ei Companion fuzz circuit, which the maker describes as "a fun take" on that design, delivering what BLAMMO! calls "BIG BOLD FUZZ TONE" in a sparkle pink enclosure1. It is handmade in Portland, Oregon and sells for $144.99 as of the maker's product page dated 25 October 20261.
What it does to your signal
The Goodbye Kitty follows the Companion layout but adds two changes of its own. First is a Big Muff style tone control: dialed left it cuts high frequencies while boosting the lows, and knobbed to the right it does the opposite, boosting highs while cutting low frequencies1. Second, a clean gain stage is added after the tone circuit. BLAMMO! says this serves two purposes: to make up for any potential volume loss from the tone control, and to solve the low output problem some original Companion units suffered from1.
The maker says these additions do not compromise the "big, blown out fuzz tone original units are known for"1.
Switching and build
Rather than the conventional clicky 3PDT footswitch, BLAMMO! fits a relay based true bypass switching system that uses a much quieter footswitch, described as virtually silent with no click1. The pedal lives in a 125b sparkle pink powder coated enclosure measuring 4.69 x 2.52 x 1.57 inches1.
The Goodbye Kitty draws 28mA and needs a 2.1mm center negative power jack, the typical Boss type1. Check your pedalboard power supply's per-output current budget against that draw before adding it to a daisy chain.
Where it sits in the BLAMMO! range
The Goodbye Kitty is one of several fuzzes in the Portland builder's catalog, alongside the Fuzz Banger, a reimagining of the Sam Ash Fuzz-Stainer MK II, and the Jordan Bosstone, a recreation of the 1966 Jordan Boss Tone. For more circuits of this kind, see the site's Fuzz Pedals page.
