The Chellee Guitars Odie Classic is a vintage inspired overdrive pedal, announced in May 2015 as a modified version of the company's well received Odie Overdrive. Chellee describes it as offering "classic TS tones and handmade quality at a mass-produced price point," placing it in the Tube Screamer family of overdrive pedals1. The maker's own description of the sound: "This pedal gives you the feel and compression of a good vintage overdrive with modern clarity and more tone shaping than any handmade overdrive in its price range."1

What it does

The Odie Classic gives a player three drive texture settings: silicon diode clipping, LED clipping, and clean boost. Silicon diode clipping is the texture associated with TS style overdrives, while LED clipping is a firmer, more open clipping choice, and the clean boost setting runs the pedal as a straight volume push. Alongside the drive textures there is an EQ voicing shift switch, which includes a fat mode that Chellee says does not get muddy1.

Where it came from

The Odie Classic is a modified version of the Odie Overdrive, reworked and offered at a lower price point than a typical handmade pedal. Each unit is built by hand in Orange City, Florida and individually tested before leaving the shop1. At the time of the announcement it was offered for direct sale for $100.00 through the Chellee Guitars LLC website1.
