The CKK Electronic Space Station Pro is a digital "space pedal" that puts two independent effect modules, a digital delay-verb and a digital reverb, in a single enclosure. A MODE switch in the middle of the pedal selects between them, so one unit can cover digital delay, digital delay-verb and digital reverb duties on a board1.

Two modules in one pedal

CKK describes the pedal as answering a simple want: "Guitarists always want to have a space pedal with collection of effects, Space Station Pro is perfectly achieved this with..." The two modules work independently, each with its own adjustments, and the MODE switch chooses which one is active1. Because both effects share one enclosure, RockBoard's PedalPedia says there is "only conversion between digital signal and analog signal inside Space Station Pro, this guarantees the best sig[nal integrity]..." and a higher tone quality than a delay pedal run in series with a separate reverb1.

The delay-verb module provides 2000ms of delay time. The DELAY knob sets the delay time and the REGEN knob sets the feedback level1. The reverb module offers four parameters: PREDELAY, DAMPING, DECAY and MIX. CKK says its decay time "can last tens of seconds," aimed at atmospheric music1.

What reviewers said

MusicRadar's review covers both modes of use. "Dialled back, in reverb-only mode, it can create a subtle and warm effect, bringing colouration and space to your sound," the review notes. In delay-verb mode, the reviewer found it "can give boutique boxes like the EarthQuaker Ghost Echo a decent run for their money," swinging "from pre-delayed spring reverb style slapbacks all the way out to cavernous washes of ambient reverb at the twist of a knob." The overall verdict: "A superb pedal."2

CKK also makes the CKK Electronic Space Station TTM Stereo Delay Reverb, a stereo-capable delay pedal with reverb built in. Pedal of the Day, reviewing it in October 2020, described it as "essentially a delay pedal that you add reverb into," with a Delay/TapDiv/Mod Type knob that adjusts the overall delay time, chooses Quarter, Eighth, Dotted Eighth or Triplet note subdivisions, and flips between Mod types. A Mod switch selects Slow or Fast modulation or turns it off completely, and an Output Mode control selects Mono, Stereo or Thru. There is also a CTRL input jack for an external switch3.

The reviewer found the Reverb section "controlled, simply, by the Reverb knob, and that's all there is to that," with Feedback and Blend knobs handling the delay side. The verdict: it "easily creates ethereal space effects and inspires creativity"3.

The Space Station Pro and the Space Station TTM are related but different pedals: the Pro separates its delay-verb and reverb into two switchable modules, while the TTM is a delay pedal with reverb added into it13.

Questions

Is the CKK Space Station Pro digital or analog?

It is a digital pedal. CKK's product page lists the circuit type as digital, and the company says there is only one conversion between digital and analog signal inside the pedal, which it says guarantees signal integrity and higher tone quality than running a delay in series with a separate reverb.

How long is the delay time on the CKK Space Station Pro?

The digital delay-verb module provides 2000ms of delay time, adjusted with the DELAY knob, with a REGEN knob for feedback level.

What polarity does the CKK Space Station Pro use?

It runs on 9V DC, center negative, the same polarity as most standard pedal power supplies.

How much current does the CKK Space Station Pro draw?

CKK lists the current draw as 80mA at 9V DC, center negative. That is more than some compact pedals use, so it is worth checking against your power supply's per-output budget.

How long can the reverb decay last on the Space Station Pro?

According to CKK, the digital reverb module's decay time can last tens of seconds, which the company positions as suited to atmospheric music. The reverb section offers PREDELAY, DAMPING, DECAY and MIX parameters.
