The Cusack Music Deal Breaker Boost is a clean boost pedal, a variant of the company's More Louder Boost. Its distinguishing feature is connectivity: it has inputs, outputs and 9 volt power inputs on every side, so a player can plug into any of the inputs and out of any of the outputs. That makes it easy to place at the start, the end, or anywhere in the middle of a pedalboard without rerouting cables.1
What it does
The pedal is a boost in the same family as the More Louder, which Cusack Music describes as a clean boost and buffer pedal. The More Louder offers 0 to 25dB of clean boost, with an internal jumper that changes the range: jumper IN gives 0 to 25dB, and jumper OUT gives a -5 to +15dB range.2
The Deal Breaker Boost is a more focused take on that circuit. Cusack Music describes its gain range simply: "All the way is +10dB!"1 A single knob in the center of the pedal controls the gain amount, so the control layout is one knob and nothing else.1
How it differs from the More Louder
The two pedals share a family, but they are set up differently:
| Deal Breaker Boost | More Louder | |
|---|---|---|
| Boost range | Up to +10dB1 | 0 to 25dB, or -5 to +15dB with the internal jumper out2 |
| Connections | Inputs, outputs and 9 volt power on every side1 | Standard single input and output |
| Controls | One gain knob1 | Clean boost and buffer functions2 |
The Deal Breaker Boost's every-side jacks are the headline difference. Cusack Music puts it plainly: "This means that you can plug into to any of the inputs, and out of any of the outputs."1 For a player with a crowded board or an unusual signal chain, that flexibility in how the pedal is wired in is the reason to pick it over the standard More Louder.
