The DOD x SHOE Pedals Looking Glass is a FET overdrive pedal, a collaboration between DOD and SHOE Pedals first released in 2016. Guitar Pedal X listed it in 2024 at $219 in the United States, with European pricing of €1991. Stefan Karlsson of Guitar Pedal X noted in January 2024 that he was "glad to see it back in circulation again!"1, so the pedal has returned to availability after a period out of the market.
Controls
The Looking Glass keeps its control layout compact, with four knobs and a mode switch1:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Level | Sets the output volume |
| Gain | Sets the amount of overdrive |
| Treble / Bass-Cut | Cuts treble or bass from the signal |
| Mode: High / Low | Switches between high and low modes |
| Input Filter | Shapes the input filtering |
The Treble / Bass-Cut control works as a cut rather than a boost, and the Input Filter gives a further tone-shaping option ahead of the gain stage1.
Where it sits in DOD's overdrive range
DOD's overdrive line is best known for the 250 family, from the original DOD 250 Overdrive Preamp through to the current DOD Overdrive Preamp 250-X, and for revivals like the Badder Monkey. The Looking Glass takes a different route: it is a FET-based design rather than a 250-style preamp, and its collaboration origin with SHOE Pedals sets it apart from DOD's in-house circuits.
