The Hummingbird V4 is a tremolo pedal from EarthQuaker Devices. It is one of three EarthQuaker pedals, alongside the Arrows V2 and Tentacle V2, that feature soft-touch relay switching systems, the main change that sets it apart from the earlier version1.
What it does
The Hummingbird is a tremolo, an effect that repeatedly raises and lowers the volume of your signal to produce a pulsing, choppy sound. The V4 revision keeps that function and adds the new switching: a soft-touch relay system replaces the mechanical stomp switch of earlier versions, giving quieter, more reliable footswitching without the audible click of a conventional true-bypass switch1.
The price reported at the time of the update was given in UK pounds (£165). No US price was included in the announcement.
MusicRadar reported the updated pedals, including the Hummingbird V4, as available now at the time of the announcement, February 21, 20181. Players comparing tremolos in the EarthQuaker range may also want to look at the Night Wire V2, the company's harmonic tremolo.
