The Effects Bakery Melon Pan Chorus is a compact analog chorus pedal from Effects Bakery, a Japanese builder that specializes in quality mini guitar pedals. It is built in a mini, pedalboard-friendly format with quality jacks, knobs and components, and it is designed to bring lush, vintage-inspired modulation to guitar, bass, keyboards or other instruments1.
Sound and character
RockBoard's PedalPedia describes the pedal's classic analog character as evoking 1970s and 1980s chorus effects, adding dimension and warmth with ease1. Delicious Audio's Paolo De Gregorio, writing in November 2021, heard it in similar terms:
"The Melon Pan Chorus is a lush analog chorus which sounds excellent, early CE-2 vibes but a bit more vibrato like if you drive the rate and depth."2
That places the Melon Pan in the family of the classic three-knob chorus circuit: De Gregorio calls it Effects Bakery's take on that circuit in mini format2. The comparison point, the early Boss CE-2, is one of the best-known chorus designs, and the Melon Pan follows its spirit while leaning slightly toward vibrato when pushed. As De Gregorio puts it, "It's built in a mini, pedalboard-friendly format with quality jacks, knobs, and components for reliable performance"21.
Controls
The Melon Pan keeps things simple with three knobs2:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Rate | Sets the speed of the modulation |
| Depth | Sets how strong the modulation is |
| Mix | Blends the modulated signal with the dry signal |
Together, RockBoard's PedalPedia says these controls let you sculpt anything from subtle shimmer to deep, vibrato-like chorus tones1. If you want to hear how that range sits against other designs, the chorus pedals page covers the wider field, and vibrato pedals cover the fully pitch-modulated end of the effect.
